Frequently-Asked Questions

What should I bring?

If you plan on being part of the Cosplay contest or art exhibition, please bring your costume / art pieces. For the Lightning Talks, you’ll want to bring your preferred laptop and presentation. We’ll have adapters.

Is this an official Church activity?

It is. That means among other things that 1) by attending you agree to adhere to the standards of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints during the conference, including adhering to the Word of Wisdom (i.e., refraining from the use of alcohol, tobacco and non-prescription narcotics) and 2) all divorces must be final prior to the conference.

Where is the NerdCon Cumorah venue located?

The convention will take place at the Church’s Colvin Street Chapel in Syracuse, New York. The chapel is located about an hour and a half east of Rochester, two and a half hours east of Buffalo, and an hour west of Utica. Google or Apple maps both can provide detailed directions. There’s also a Google map of the area near the venue towards the bottom of our homepage.

What's the age range for attendance?

The conference is aimed at the needs of young single adults ranging from 18 to 35 years old and Midsingles 35 to 45. If you’re no older than 45 on November 14th, 2026, you’re eligible to attend.

Do I need to stick with the activities I selected at registration?

You’re welcome to change what activities you participate in from the ones you selected when you registered. So that we can plan appropriately (particularly for the Magic Tournament and the D&D campaigns) we ask that you let us know of any changes prior to the day of the event.

Any guidelines or restrictions on the Cosplay costumes?

We’d very much like to avoid micromanaging your decision-making process there. Use your good judgment. If you have specific questions about costume components, please feel free to contact us.
